About Me
As an academic I’ve always occupied the space between disciplines. Originally trained in English by the great Marlena Morgan, and instructed in history by Elizabeth Byrne, whose unique brand of cultural history has had considerable implications for my own preoccupations, my methods of scholarship have always been a bit odd. In an ideal world, I suppose I’d like to teach history, learn English, and do anthropology. In the real world, my approach to history is more intuitive than methodological; I’m as interested in dissecting our own perceptions of the past as I am in understanding what actually happened.
