I was in Montevideo for 7 months Between May to Dec 2007. It is really a nice place. Very windy sometime. People are very nice. Do eat Chivitos and have Mate. There are few shopping Malls too. It is fun to sit on Pocitos beach during summer.
Hi, What are some good spots for New Year's Eve? Does anyone have any recommendations for restaurants with great food? Or any trendy lounges? Thanks.
Roast beef, chivito and wine and do not forget the mate and fried cakes (tortas fritas). Mercado del puerto y Ciudad Vieja there you will find pubs and restaurants Best beach in South America is Punta del Este and if you like something more wild and natural do not forget go to Rocha and visit Punta del Diablo, Cabo Polonio and Valizas
I am reloctating to Montevideo, Uruguay. Where should I look for log term housing. I am single. A two bedroom would be nice.
Uruguay is a wonderful place to visit and the people are very friendly. I suggest getting out into the country where there are many small towns and see where people live and while they don't have a lot, are willing to share. I stayed at a ranch while doing a photo shoot and it was a very pleasant experience.
Montevideo is fantastic perfect destination for travellers looking for relaxing stroll among the colonial buildings, beautiful empty beaches as well as churches and theatres, addition, the area has a great nightlife thanks to the many clubs in which you can enjoy Tango and Candome ( A cultural manifestation of black African origin and brasilian dyes! ) Enjoy and have fun!
