When visiting Christchurch take a guided tour on a red bus they have before and after videos going on VHS to show you what it was like in the city before the earthquakes and after.
loved staying on the North Shore it was Awesome everything is so close, super clean city would love to go back, public transport is great no need for a car!!
Fantastic is always the Skylines Skyrides and luge - awesome views, the Rainbow springs with the new water slide (and awesome "bush walk" - can't get lost there!) and a trip on the Lakeland Queen steam boat with lunch.
Auckland's North Shore is close to the city by road across the harbour bridge or by 10 minute ferry ride to Devonport which has a good village feel with quaint shops and a variety of restaurants. If you are in a pub or party mood Takapuna is the place to go with great restaurants and lively pubs filled with friendly people. Where the North Shore ends you are suddenly in beautiful countryside. Try it, you will not be disappointed!
