If you want to know more about the history of Mauritius, there are two places not to be missed in Port Louis: the Port Louis museum, found at La Chaussée street, and the Blue Penny Museum, at Caudan Waterfront. They relate precisely the rich history of the island, its flora and fauna, but also depict quite well the island under French and British colonialism. Go there!!!
It is a nice place to visit, people of Mauritius are generous with courtesy habits, security is exemplary. The whole country is blessed to be touristic. While u are there never miss to visit Port Luis, the rest you will explore by your self according to your taste. All in all Mauritius is GREAT. I had that golden opportunity to attend in one of the Mauritius Night organized by the Air Mauritius it was fantastic but we had to leave before the end of the event as we were travelling back home next...
Which is the best time of the year to come to MAURITIUS we want to come for relaxation and not interested when it is crowded. we want peace and like to Stay in Resort not on sea but at a little height with good view and scenery and little cool climate thanks
Port Louis is the capital city of Mauritius and has the waterefront, the old market, the racing track and the historical Citadelle.. And its Chinatown...so, there is something to visit and it could be done in one day
Be careful the taxi drivers don't overcharge you. The Island is really not very big. Negotiate the price down. Also try the Bazaar (market) in Grand Baie has cool gifts :) Le Sucre is really awesome place to go and the tour includes a sugar and rum tasting at the end A trip out on the catamaran to Quien de Mere (or anywhere with that beautiful clear water) to go snorkling is fun and beautiful:)
