Sorry for my limited French! About Belarus - I call it - "washed USSR". Every time, when I visit that country, I have feeling that I turned back to 1970th... there are many red banners, monuments of Lenin and other "commi - smell" things there...
Minsk is a very cosy city. It is clean and full of light. The city was almost fully ruined during the Second World War, so it's architecture quite modern. Though there's one place in the very heart of the city, called "Troitrskoe predmestje" that can give some idea of old Minsk.
