Be careful with the restaurants in the first district: There are many touristy places where you get medium quality food for a premium prize. "Figlmüller" (in Wollzeile) - famous for it's Schnitzl - is slightly better than the average tourist trap. If you want REALLY good food, try the boiled beef (Tafelspitz) at "Plachutta" (also in Wollzeile). If you prefer something more exclusive, try "Nihonbashi" (in Kärntner Straße near Karlsplatz) - one of the best...
if you like street art, go for a walk at the donaukanal, which is not far away from popular places right in the inner city like stephansplatz or schwedenplatz. schwedenplatz is actually a great point to start your walk. cross the street, take the stairs down to the river and then turn left. just walk a few kilometers straight ahead and enjoy the beautiful graffitis to your left and also on the alternate bank. if you're lucky, you can watch one of the artists at work. :-)
Arriving in Vienna tomorrow! What are the good places to hang out and drink Austrian beer in the evening? Tip for some guys, I'm going with my mother, don't get any funny ideas.
Be sure that a visit to Vienna will give you "the time of your life!" Old buildings, nice restaurants and hotels. Take a city trip with a carriage, it's very nice! Visit the pianobar in the Hilton hotel, that's fun. Beutiful shopping Streets with streetartists etc. etc.
My friend and I are planning to visit Vienna around august. Can anyone advice where we can stay (like apartelle) and what are the places to visit including Salzburg. We would love to see and listen live the Vienna Boys Chior. Thank you.
Don't ever buy tickets of the streets to a Vienna walz as it's a joke, on a small stage they perform just two people with a cramps up band to accompany them, be very aware of sellers like this over there, the flyers they show you are good, the place and performance shocking in worn shoes, and shoddy clothes
