Ateljee Bar, Hotel Torni, Helsinki
Once the tallest hotel in Finland when it was first opened, this historic 14 floor building boasts first class 360 degree views across Helsinki. The charming Ateljee Bar at the top, has a balcony that is, not surprisingly, very popular in the summertime. This is a perfect tourist spot as if you’ve never been to the city as it’s an ideal place to get your bearings and understand the city’s layout. It is also used as a space for local art exhibitions. Please take note that there are also spectacular floor to ceiling views from the toilets!
Le Georges, Pompidou Centre, Paris
This hidden gem, in the incredibly designed Pompidou Centre, is a perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of Paris. Just as the museum is closing at 9pm, head to the top to expereince the panoramic views in the restaurant Le Georges. Settle down for an evening of cocktails with the Paris trendy set and watch the sunset over this magical city. Don’t forget to book ahead!
Ozone, Ritz Carlton, Hong Kong
This is the world’s tallest bar, high up on 118 floor of the hotel and it offers both spectacular views of the city skyline and harbour. It is also a stunning place to have a cocktail or two. The bar known as OZONE, is ultra modern and incredibly glamorous, with lights that change colour, dramatic interiors and incredible mirrors. It has to be on your must-see list!
Cloud 9, Jin Mao Tower, Shanghai Hyatt, Shanghai
A bar called Cloud 9 has a lot to live up to and it certainly does. High up on the 87 floor, this chic bar offers some of the best views of Shanghai, with a 360 degree vantage point. If you get a West facing table you will be able to see the Bund and Pearl Tower. If you look SouthEast you will also get to see its taller iconic neighbour, the Shanghai Financial Centre. Oh and you don't have to parachute off it if you don't want to!
Sky Bar, The Dome at State Tower, Bangkok
Perched high up on the 63rd floor of The Dome at Lebua, this is the highest open air bar on the planet. The circular Sky Bar, with its neon glow is a magnet for the glitterati of Bangkok. It has magnificent views over the city and Chao Phraya River and a glamorous cocktail menu. Just don’t get too dizzy looking over the edge, the clear barriers make it look as if there is nothing between you and the ground below!
The Penthouse, ME Madrid Reina Victoria, Madrid
This is one of the hottest bars in Madrid and a ride up to the roof in the private lift will make you feel like you’ve joined the jetset far above the madding crowd below. The bar is luxuriously decked out with the bar itself unusually built into a deconstructed brick wall.
With beautiful panoramic views of the city are worth the trip and you can come here for cocktails at sunset or perhaps an afternoon tea to escape the crowded city.
Rooftop Bar at The Standard, Los Angeles
There is a young, fun vibe here on the roof of this hotel in the heart of LA’s financial district. You can gaze at the view of the skyscrapers around you or, with a poolside lounge and waterbeds to lie on, you can gaze up at the sky instead. Don't too bad a life really! This bar has a fantastic atmosphere, with movie screenings, DJs and live bands.
