Get the real Western Experience at the Stockyards National Historic District
See a cattle drive led by cowboys on horseback – yes, that’s right! Get the best view in front of the Visitor Centre as a large number of cattle with the biggest horns you ever did see pass you by - just like it would have been back in the day. Alternatively, walk down the Texas Rodeo Cowboy Hall of Fame, shortly before you go to see traditional rodeo activities in the Cow Town Coliseum itself. If none of this interests you, maybe the eerie ghost tour of the stockyards might be the one for you, to see what sort of paranormal activity goes on…
See the creation of cold, hard cash at Fort Worth’s Bureau of Engraving and Printing
Ever wondered where they print money or how it is made? Or, have you ever seen the FW on your dollar bill and wondered what it stood for? Well, if you go to the Bureau of Engraving and Printing ‘s Western Currency Facility, you will learn all about the history of the dollar bill, as well as watch it being printed(through the reinforced glass wall high above the factory itself, of course). You may have to go through tight security, but it’s no wonder considering you will be in the vicinity of half of the country’s tender – Fort Worth is one of the only two centres in the whole of the States.
Be swept away by the beauty of Fort Worth’s Botanic Gardens
With a range of 23 gardens that all have their own theme, you are sure to find the one that is suited to your taste. As well as having the opportunity to walk through the gardens and the 10,000 square foot observatory, there are a number of amazing events that simply cannot be missed – for example, The Eagles live with the company of the Fort Worth Orchestra, or video games being played live accompanied by the sound of the orchestra… or, Star Wars being brought to life by the Fort Worth Orchestra!
