DOOARS  by Srimalya    16th Aug 09
You have definitely heard about Amazon, you have possibly read about Congo. But do you knew that deep green forests, cut through by muddy rivers, await you at your door steps ? Yes, we are speaking about DOOARS in West Bengal(India) usually brings in mind snow capped mountain and tea gardens. But in reality in DOOARS you will find forests..........natural forests where Elephants, Rhinos, Bisons, Leopards, Royal Bengal Tigers, Deers and varieties of snakes and birds roam about. Our mission is to highlight the beauty of DOOARS, is to project the birds, animals and the tribal people that can be found here : to make people understand that instead of reading about Amazon or Congo, time has come to visit DOOARS and thereby gain a first hand experience about the life in the jungle........................

Dakshinachitra~Tamil Nadu,India  by Le    5th Aug 09
This place Dakshinachitra is a cultural and Heritage centre where one can visit for the day as well stay there too. They have reconstructed very authentically the houses of the four southern states of INDIA namely TAMIL Nadu,Karnataka,Kerala, and Andhra Pradesh. The houses constructed I say are authentical as they are originally procured from the said states and the materials used are largely from the olden era. They also have artisans like a potter,a glass blower, stone carver, weavers, painters. They hold workshops for visitors to learn ancient art forms and painting. The restaurant is quaint n serves simple home cooked kind of food~pure vegetarian Food. There is also a Crafts and Curio shop which is well stocked with lots of goodies to carry back as souvenirs.Must visit !!
