I've visited this gorgeous country more than twenty times. It is my neighbour after all. There's so much to see & do. One can visit the Arawak stones, swing on the suspension bridge and picnic at the foot of the "Chute de Carbet"; You can also visit the casino in the tourist areas of st Anne; St Franois & gosier; There's a beach for every day in Guadeloupe. The sea is a turquoise and you can see your toes in it. You can also eat cassava bread and grilled lambi (conch). You can get a tour of the cane factory where you see the whole process of rum making. Guadeloupe is really the "Papillon-butterfly".

Great place and very friendly people: both locals and metro (French who moved there in their second life) have made our 2week holiday a lovely one.
I recommend to go off the Grande Terre (Saint'Anne or Saint Francois), up to the Pointe de la Vigie for great scenarios, but male sure you spend some days in the Basse Terre: Deshaies and it surroindings are not to be missed and it is a convenient location for both beaches (we loved Petit Anse most), diving (Jazz at the Grand Anse was great fo my Baptism) and for trekking in the forest.
Also if you have the chance to stay 2 or 3 days in Marie Galante you will be brought back to 30 years ago.
