Gampaha is a very good residential town with good schools, shops, markets, cinema halls etc., Quite a safe place and travelling to Colombo and other parts of the island is faster and easier by Train. But the it is sleepy town and usually the roads are deserted by 8 p.m. in general it is a nice place.
