Well I visited periya kovil in tanjavur... It was built by chola kings... and this is earth quake resistent... and temple is placed over round stones and in case of earth quake the vibrations are absorbed by these stones... Shiv ling is a very big one and this is one of the oldest temples which is also recognized as world heritage monuments.
