Kitchener is one part of a tri-city area...Kitchener, Waterloo and Cambridge. They share a well operated publiic transportation and are somewhat central to other cities in Ontario, like Hamilton, Toronto, Guelph, and London....so Kitchener is a good base for day trips to these other locations, especially if you are a university student at Laurier or University of Waterloo...or visiting for a while....bonus if you are driving because it is close to HWY 401 which is a mainline to all of these locatons.
