Marcus in the "House of Stairs" :) This stairwell reminded me of the novel "House of Stairs" (1974). I had read it when I was still a youngster back in the early 80's. It probably lead to one of my first fascinations with somewhat nondescript science fiction and social dynamics. I can really see this being turned into a treatment (thus subsequently a short and then feature film), but it just hasn't happened (yet :) .. although "Cube" (1997) and "House of 9" (2005) *do* touch on a few of the ideas that are explored in this book (particularly human factors). en.wikipedia.org/wiki/House_of_Stairs_(William_Sleator_no...
