Uganda Safari Highlights
UGANDA

• Highlights – primate viewing – gorillas in Bwindi and Mghainga, chimps at Kibale Forest, Ngamba Island and Queen Elizabeth National Park, big game viewing in Queen Elizabeth National Park, Lake Victoria, the source or the Nile and Murchison Falls U
• The up-market lodges are not quite as sophisticated or stylish as in other parts of Africa but they are comfortable and give you access to some very unique places and experiences.
• Distances are long and the roads are poor – charter flights are an option if you have the budget
• Group or private road safaris enable you to see the incredibly beautiful country-side, fabulous flora and the local village life
• Camping safaris offer good value for money and many of the overland truck trips include visits to Uganda and in particular gorilla viewing
• Ugandan travel is not always the most comfortable but it is full of reward – from friendly people, to wonderful scenery, spectacular birding and the primate highlights
• Keep in mind children under 15 cannot visit the gorillas and cannot interact with chimps – this is for fear of spreading childhood diseases as well as for safety (primates are strong!)
• Also worth a comment is that gorilla permits currently begin at US$360 per person for one hour with the gorilla group (the trek to find them might take up to 8 hours) – but it is money well spent and nobody we know has every felt the experience was disappointing.
• Uganda is blessed with beautiful warm weather almost all year round

Seasons U

• From March-May and November through December there will be more rain but not enough to ruin your holiday
• The dry months make for more comfortable travel and are December to February and June to August.
