San Francisco, United States

San Francisco is quite small, yet its hilly terrain and patchwork demographic profile gives it more distinctly defined neighborhoods than a city five times its size. As a result, the sights, sounds and flavors of this community—and even its climate—can change within a single block.

A Wonderful City All Together.  by Danielle    20th Dec 08
Since I've been there two years in a row for vacation, and see no reason not to go again, I'd say I love this city a great deal! It is a fabulous city to vacation in, and you can make it happen for a very reasonable price if you are a smart, thrifty kind of person! My favorite place to go: Coit Tower. The walk up the stairs is beautiful! You basically walk up a giant hill, through colorful gardens & great greenery. It's sad that only elevators run up the tower itself, but what can you do? I also recommend a horse carriage ride, the longer one offered. It's incredibly relaxing. We've stayed at the Market Street Travelodge & the Hotel Miyako. Miyako was more expensive, but more comfortable and in a safer location.

Good Memories  by Bryna    10th Dec 08
I've lived 200 miles from San Francisco my whole life and have come through and driven around numerous times from the 101 highway. I lived in a very shoddy part of San Francisco for a month while I went to massage school across the bay in Emeryville. I remember taking the ride from Albany to S.F. with my sister It is always exciting and beautiful whether you are by the piers and watching the sea lions or in the Hyatt motel playing in the glass elevators; and the music store "amoeba" on height st is awesome!

Amazed  by Frankie    8th Sep 08
San Francisco is amazing. My wife and I went for part of our two week honeymoon. We flew to Denver and stayed for 4 days. We then drove across Colorado, Wyoming, Utah, Nevada and California to arrive in this beautiful city. We stayed by the airport at a reasonable price off of US 101. The Golden Gate Bridge is more beautiful in person than what you see on TV. It's huge and in an unbelievable location. The city sits to the south and has a great skyline. AT&T Park is also a must see. We caught the Reds vs Giants on a cool and rainy night. We sat by McCovey's Cove where the boaters are. Fisherman's Wharf was crowded and not very interesting, but the cable cars were. It is something everyone should do if visiting San Francisco. The vineyards of Sonoma and Napa Counties are just north of the city. It's also a must do.

The Artists of San Francisco  by Eric    4th Sep 08
SF is a city of creative people. If you know where to look you can see some of the most cutting edge, strange and interesting art in the world. Each of the little neighbourhoods has its own character, whether it is ethnic or cultural or whatever. Try to avoid the tourist areas other have recommended. No one who lives here goes to Alcatraz or Fishermans wharf except when we have family visiting as these areas are purely for tourists. If you want to see the real San Francisco you must get out of your car and walk, and i promise you will be rewarded for the effort.

San Francisco, CA  by Mahadev    23rd Aug 08
It is a fascinating city with the world's number 1 Golden Gate Bridge. It is a popular international tourist destination known for its landmarks, including the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz Island, the cable cars, Coit Tower, and Chinatown, its steep rolling hills, and its eclectic mix of Victorian and modern architecture. The city is the home one of the largest Chinese and Gay populations. The Bay area is also considered the capital of IT and Biotechnology sectors. Many new companies, including Yahoo, Google, Intel, etc., were all started in the Bay area. The Bay area is geographically and ethnically diverse. The city offers visitors many things, including restaurants and entertainment. I must have visited this city numerous times. Each time I have brought back different memories.
