I lived in Bloomington, IL for a little more than a year and this was my first destination in the US. Bloomington made me feel comfortable because of its quiet nature and the very friendly citizens. If you want to lead a very quiet life away from the fast paced city life while also not missing out on city like atmosphere, I would place Bloomington up there with the other good ones.
