Los Angeles may have perfected urban sprawl, but Detroit invented it. Although the landscape is mostly flat, recreational opportunities abound, most of them centered around water. To the northeast of the city sprawls Lake St. Clair, a shallow but broad lake popular for boating and fishing. The Detroit River is a resource that the city has never fully exploited though a system of parks ... more info

Back off MY city  by Carl    28th Mar 09
first I will start by say I respect everyone views, but least be clear the city have crime like Brenda said n more then any other big city. but some of the wrap doesn't all come from Detroit here they have what is call Metro Detroit. That is any city that touches the Detroit city borders and since my beloved Pistons place in aubrnhills what ever happen during a came crime wise it was a Detroitor like that fight with the Pacer that was a guy was from aubrnhills not Detroit but we got the blame so before you judge get the fact and make sure its Detroit and not Metor Detroit i welcome all comments thanks and if you want to see the real Detroit get in contact me

Detroit A great place to Live and  by Cindy    26th Oct 08
Detroit's always going to be home and a big part of whom I am. No life wasn't always easy growing up. I lived in a beautiful neighborhood of the cities South West side. Many of my friends still live there so I visit at least once or twice a week. I love the bars and running into old friends when I am in the neighborhood. Visiting the casino's in Downtown Detroit is a lot of fun too. If you're lucky enough to eat at some of the wonderful restaurants in Detroit @ Greek Town and also In Mexican town. Armando's restaurant on w Vernor in southwest Detroit has amazing authentic Mexican food as dose many of the Mexican restaurant of Bagley st. I will always Love My City

a good place  by Drew    15th Oct 08
growing up in Detroit wasn't all that bad. there was plenty to do in the city. what i appreciate the most is the events held downtown. especially the auto show. even though Detroit has a high crime rate, i think it is still a pretty decent place to visit. if you think about it anywhere you go you have to worry about crime anyways.

Detroit Cultural Center  by Hanninen    30th May 08
The reopened Detroit Institute of Arts is wonderful. The galleries have been reinstalled with the visitors' needs in mind. The DIA has provided great gallery signs that help the visitor understand the context for the art. THere are a couple of great videos that help the visitor understand how wine is mixed in Greece and how a dinner was served in 18th century France. The interior is bright. The Inn on Ferry Street is one block north of the DIA. The Inn is comprised of 4 Victorian houses and 2 carriage houses that have been restored. The continental breakfast has a wide variety of fresh fruit. The service was wonderful. A shuttle service is provided all day and until 11 p.m. for destinations with 5 miles of the Inn.

Detroit Is Safe  by Rosalinda    22nd Feb 08
I am born and raised right here in the Motor City Motown Detroit Michigan, I can't understand why Detroit's getting such bad reviews but it is and great place to live. this "So Call Crime CRAP" is just that it is not battered up with crime like everyone is saying and reading about. I can safely walk to the gas station 2-3 -4 am ,walk the dog at midnight 1 am if I want and have done so many many times and nothing ha happened to me.I am a Regestered Coward and wouldn't be out and about if it was so dangerous. Plus in the past 10 years Detroit has exsploded with growing so much and all sorts of new stuff being build up we are the NEW DETROIT.I welcome anyone to prove me wrong. I would be happy to invite and be your tour guide here. Detroit is safe it is no differant than any ware else .
