Istanbul is such a diverse city that it's almost impossible to split it up into definable districts. The only real distinction that can be made is between the European and Asian sides, which are separated by the Bosphorus Strait. Stretching from the Black Sea, straddling across the Bosphorus, touching the Sea of Marmara, Istanbul, with an estimated population of between 10-13 million, ... more info

ISTANBUL  by Deborah    9th Jan 10
I'm in love with this city it's so interesting you don't get enough of it. You have the modern part and the old part i felt i was in a fairytale story. The best food ever and the night-life is amazing. It's a real shopping paradise with luxury product's. Was in many city's but Istanbul is the best!!

The Lure of Istanbul  by Lily    15th Jun 09
I love this city so much that I've been to visit three times this year, and a fourth trip in three months. Coming from the U.S makes for a very long trip but that doesn't stop me. There is no way to describe Istanbul that has not already been said. It is magical. Anyone who goes there can attest to the feeling while being there. A crossroad between the east and west, the culture, music, food, the people, and night life--there is no other city like it. Taksim is a must see and of course, Sultanahmet for the historical sites. Taksim, Ortakoy, and Bebek for the nightlife. And if you have time, go live as the Turks do, Anatolian side. Discover all the places and hangouts popular to the locals. You might find it difficult to go back to your own country. :)

Great Historical Place  by Sudeep    10th Aug 08
It is a beautiful ancient city which is live up to its modernisation. People are great except after 11Pm in night where it is not safe to go outside for a foreigner.Among the main historical monuments Topkapi palace, St.Sophia and Blue Mosque are a must to visit. Over all a great city for 7/10 day visit.
