Welcome to Marton!  by Ilan    4th Apr 08
Marton is the world’s first toilet themed restaurant! Marton means toilet in Chinese and in this restaurant you literally sit on toilet seats and eat out of miniature toilet shaped bowls (both the Asian squat-style and the traditional Western variety toilets). The restaurant is the first of its kind and only exists in Taiwan. The creator of the restaurant used to be a street vendor. He sold ice-cream in a special plastic toilet cup holder which he designed himself. He decided to take this idea one step further and so the toilet restaurant was born. The restaurants use ceramic toilet bowls/dishes to serve a range of meals. Apparently he was inspired by a comic book character who would put crap on crackers. No joke! This comic is popular with the young kids in Taiwan!

A perfect Picnic  by Vijeth    23rd Dec 07
Hepingdao island in Keelung is a very beautiful place if you like to sit on the rock and gulp down a few drinks. The rocks here still look to be under formation. A perfect place for study by geologists. Rocks under formation also means that they make weird shapes often. From an animal to an alien. A perfect setting for a "Photo Clicking" enthusiast. Since this is a natural harbour, you can't get to swim due to the depth and hard hitting waves. An adjoining mountain hiking trail rounds up the fine picnic. People residing in Taipei would do well to reach here by either Bus or Train from Taipei Main Station.
