Introduction

As with most cities, Durban has developed around the geographic features of the area. Durban is bounded in the south by the Bluff, a range of green clad hills separating the sea from Durban Bay, and stretches northwards beyond the Umgeni River to the highland of Durban North. Inland lies Berea, a ridge of hills encircling the flat, central part of the Ci ... more info

A Thousand Hills  by Musa    25th Feb 09
Durban is known to many for diverse cultures and peoples, but little is known for its valleys and hills in the outskirts of Hillcrest in the West of Durban. The place is called "Valley of a thousand hills" because of a number of hills that are lining the Hillcrest and Kloof suburbs. This area is rich with people who are still into culture and practise the African traditions as was done in the early 1800 & 1900's.

The closness of nature  by Billy    5th Sep 08
One of the fantastic things about Durban is the divers cultures and how well people has learnt to live together. It is close to nature and has many quick to get to nature trails and one of the worlds best and biggest live fish viewing at Ushaka.

Amazing Place  by Vinay    2nd Jul 08
I was there in Durban for a span of 6 months on a business trip. The time that I have spent there was unforgettable. I enjoyed a lot there. The place is nice. I was leaving at North Beach flats and the view of Sunrise was really amazing ... There are lots of places to visit in Durban...We went to Mirana Beach, Midmar Dam around 200 km from Durban. One of my trips, to lions Park, I can never forget in my life...We went there and around 20-25 Lions had circled around our car.....Then there was a place called Ushaka..Main attraction of Ushaka was the Dolphin Show. It is worth visiting Ushaka.....If you have not visited Ushaka while your stay in Durban you have missed a lot. Then there is a pub in North Beach called Joy Cools: our best hanging place in Durban, where we had mostly spent our Friday night.......

Durban...from the home front.  by Shabana    15th Jun 08
Lived in Durban all my life and I can say that just like everywhere else in the world we have our fair share of problems but people here are accepting, friendly and relaxed. Everyones going nowhere slowly. There is tons of malls, nightclubs, bars, theaters and beaches and 90% of the year the weather is perfect for the beach.Contrary to popular belief, Durban is quite modern so, do not expect to see wild animals roaming the streets, except for the drunk ones on a Saturday night.. If you into the whole African experience, Tala Game Reserve is the place you want to go to. It's about 80km's away from Durban but definitely worth the journey. There is a great Bunjee Jumping site in Howick and Foofee slides to die for in Karkloof. Almost everyone speaks English or understands it, so, communication ain't a problem. If you planning ahead, remember, come 2010, it's The SOccer World Cup and SA is the honored hosts.
