Facing the big lodges of port wine to which it gave its name across the river douro, porto is portugal“s second largest city and there is a certain feeling of rivalry towards lisbon. but although its ancient roots have been preserved with pride, a modern and lively commerce makes it a thriving city and its traditional importance as an industrial center does not diminish the charm and cha

Porto is my home town and so it's easy to say good things about it. I'll try to be impartial and give it you straight up. It is a privileged city bathed by by the Atlantic Ocean and the Douro River so if you like water activities this is the place for you. You can expect warm, fun loving people who will do their utmost to make you feel comfortable and at home. Although the second most populated city in Portugal, Port still feels like a small town by the warmth that people treat you with but most of all because of its cosy looks. Taking a stroll through the old town you will feel as if you've travelled back in time, following the river all the way to the ocean. If you like cities with history, river and/or ocean, fun (day or night)...then Porto is the place for you to be :)

Porto is the place where history meets fun and stone meets water... a 1000 year old city, walled between formidable monuments, yet lively and fun. You have the ocean and you have the river, you have the mist and you have the sun, you have football and you have rugby, you have Port wine and you have red Vinho Verde, you have Francesinhas and you have Tripas. If you are not touched by this city, you were just aloof or...you just do not deserve to be here!

Well, Porto is a small city or as I call it, "a Big Village" and all due to its very friendly and hospitable people. The most magnificent scenario is when you come from Vila Nova de Gaia and look at Porto from the other side of the river. From there you can spot the bigger picture - the coloured houses in a big slope, bending towards the river. Walk as much as you can, check the corners, look above and beyond and you'll be dazzled, astonished, surprised. Go inside, step outside, climb (be careful not to fall). Do and see as much as you can... Or just sit by the riverside and do nothing at all but enjoying the view and the atmosphere!

Porto is a very beautiful and unique city. Crossing the river through the D. Lus Bridge you have the nicest view. Take a walk by the sea in the beautiful and big sidewalks of Foz, enjoy the nicest bars by the sea.
Go to the city park and enjoy the beautiful gardens and lakes going all the way until the beach. Enjoy the night life in the Paris Galleries, go down to the ribeira and have a coffee in Peter's caf.
