Estoril, but especially Cascais are lovely places to visit. The people are friendly and it is a relaxing area, not as built up and commercialized as other European beach resorts. It is well suited to families and those who want a slightly cooler, relaxing beach holiday. It probably wouldn't be suited for those who want lively nightlife or a more active holiday.
Heres a website with some useful Info for all those willing to visit Estoril :

Miles apart form the Algare. This destination is so laid back and chilled. Lovely beach and only half an hour to Lisbon if you like historic sites. 5 minutes on the train to experience the real Portugal and if you like seafood it's a must.

Estoril is an old touristic village, near Cascais.
The beach, the sun and the Casino are the main atractions.
Fashionable in the 40's, is now a decadent place, very good for old people, but not for young one's.
