So you had a chance to see the one of the oldest cities in Poland. Two days is not enough. Gdansk is the place where I grown up and graduated the Politechnika Gdanska and in 1968 got myself in to trouble (famous spring 68).

A tour of Poland took me to the trio of Gdansk, Gdynia and Sopot. We were staying in university accommodation in Gdynia but managed a trip along the coast to Sopot. A great Polish seaside resort. This was my first and only chance to sample the Polish coast.
Gdansk is an amazing city with a rich history. I was particularly interested to go and see the ship yards where Lech Walesa started out. There is an impressive statue. The best part of the city was the view from the top of the cathedral. It was a long climb up but well worth the effort.

Gdansk is a very hospitable town - I have been for 2 days there and people were really friendly and nice. When you are in Gdansk, you must see Park Oliwski, because it is a really beautiful place, where you can relax and enjoy the beauty of trees and flowers. I encourage you to visit a great St. Mary's church also. You can see a lot of the paintings and sculptures there, which are really interesting. And don't forget about National Museum in Gdansk, where you can see one of the most famous paintings in Poland, Hans Memling's 'The Doomsday'.
And remember, being in Gdansk you can get to the coast of Baltic Sea by tram :)
