Iloilo a Center for Many Interest by
Emma 30th May 08
Iloilo City was once called the Queen City of the South. Maybe it does not have the title anymore, but it still is the center for quality education as it is home to several universities, offering one of the best quality medical courses such as medicine and nursing. It is can also be a center for conferences and conventions with affordable and excellent accommodation facilities. Iloilo boasts of excellent restaurants that can satisfy one's cravings for seafoods, Chinese cuisine and native Ilonggo cuisine and delicacies such as the chicken binakol, pancit molo, batchoy, kinilaw na sugpo, pinasugbo, piaya and biscocho. Well, they are everywhere in different parts of the city.

Ilo-ilo City is of the best place i've visited here in the Philippines. In this place, you can find one of the oldest church in Asia.
Days Hotel is the best hotel in the city as compared to other three hotels i stayed for couples of night. The accommodation is fairly good, the food, and service are excellent.

If you are interested in old architecture and really good food, then Iloilo is the place to go. I was there in 2006 and i would say I really enjoyed the place, especially that I am into photography.
From Manila, you may take either Philippine Airlines of Cebu Pacific Air to Iloilo City. Cebu Pacific offers promo rates most of the time so check out their website. If you get lucky, you will be able to fly to Iloilo for less than three thousand pesos.
If you are into photography, you will enjoy being in Iloilo, where they have these really old churches. There is the Jaro Cathedral which was built in 1864 and located at the heart of the city. Then there the Molo Church, located about 3 kilometers away from the city and built sometime in the 1880s. I also had the chance to visit Guimbal Church. What really stunned me though was the Miag-ao church, which was really awesome. It was built sometime in the 1700s.
