Being the hometown of our national hero, Jose Rizal, Calamba boasts of historical and cultural heritage. The town, located south of country's capital of Manila is just a little over an hour trip...well, just say there's no traffic in the south. Calamba also boasts of hot springs that's why you can find here a lot of resorts.
Besides its known to locales and tourists who came here and visit this place as the national heroes (Dr. Jose Rizal) birthplace. This place is the starting point for natural hot springs extending much to another town called LOS BANOS. The house of the RIZALS became now a landmark to the region and the most of the house items were restored for display and public viewing. Another attraction for locales and guests was the place called ENCHANTED KINGDOM (popular theme park of Luzon); where has its thrill rides for the young kids, young adults and also good for adults to unwind and get relaxed because of the cool breeze coming from sea and by mountains. This place is near to the exit of Santa Rosa if you are coming from the South Luzon Expressway.

i worked in Laguna for almost 5 years... most of the biggest multinational manufacutirng companies in the country today can be found here...and because of these companies, population also increased in the areas and environmental degradation is already the concern of all.
our group where I worked as volunteer is now partnering w/ LGU, NGO's, PO's and industries to help rehabilitate the Laguna de Bay, one os Asia's biggest lake. Programs on 3R's, basic environmental awareness campaign and promotion for the installation of water treatment facilities, etc... are some of our activities....
Calamba is 30 minutes away from Manila...
