Separated by Walls  by Cecile    11th Aug 08
The Palestianian Authority area is separated by a wall and one has to enter the gate with a military check point. This is perhaps the place where a tourist realizes the reality that all is not well within Israel. Tension can be felt due to the separation and strict security measures being implemented in entering and leaving this Palestinian area.

6 weeks in Palestine  by Rob    12th May 08
Mind numbing to see what Palestinians experience *every* *day* while under Israeli occupation. As a US American, I was generally able to go anywhere I wanted and not have to wait in line. I put up a stink when I refused to show my passport at the new (2005) gate in Bethlehem; I was pissed that my Palestinian friend had to wait in a slower (though shorter) line to go through than the tourists had to wait. I witnessed soundbombs being thrown by Israeli police (military) right near some little girls after some Palestinian teens threw rocks that hit a Jewish priest. I witnessed rubber bullets and tear gas used against teens with rocks every week in a small village where a fence was being built to cut off the village from its farmland. Go check out Palestine. You may be shocked. And if you are not careful, you may be shot, but I promise it will not be a Palestinian with the gun.

I am planning to go to occupied Palestine next year (2009), to a village called wadi fuqeen - I met a Palestinian in April who lives there and offered to have me to stay, I feel ashamed as a Jew at what is happening to the Palestinian people and will write a report when I come back any suggestions as to what to do, bring etc are welcome x
