Bergen may not be a particularly large city by european standards, but let`s not forget that it was the capitol of Norway for many years, till the last past century and still is the second largest city of its country.
Here, german history as well as the Norwegian, and long-standing traditions are as important as the city's vibrant cultural life. The hanseatic legacy goes hand-in-hand

The Norwegian city of Bergen was separated from Hordaland as a county of its own in 1831.[3] It was established as a municipality January 1, 1838 (see formannskapsdistrikt). The rural municipality of Bergen landdistrikt was merged with Bergen January 1, 1877.[4] The rural municipality of rstad was merged with Bergen July 1, 1915. The rural municipalities of Arna, Fana, Laksevg and sane were merged with Bergen January 1, 1972. The city lost its status as a separate county the same date.[5] Bergen was Norway's biggest city until the 1830s,[6] when it was passed by Oslo.

There is no good way to spend 24 hours in Bergen. Anything short of a lifetime is a tragedy.
If you wanted to reduce the ever lingering sorrow of having to leave I would take recommend skiing on Flien (mountain) in the morning, drinking a cup of hot chocolate in Vgen Fetevare (cafe) before noon, have a laugh at the street performers on Torgallmenningen (main square) in the early afternoon, eating lunch in Dickens restaurant, go shopping in the old street Ggaten in the afternoon, lay down on the grass by the castle early evening, sit down for a quiet moment of reflection on Bryggen (old-town) when it gets really dark before eventually going to sleep on one of the roof-top terraces under the open sky.

Bergen is a city of southwest Norway on inlets of the North Sea. It was founded in 1070, was the largest and most important city of medieval Norway.Bergenhus fortress contains buildings dating as far back as the 1240s. Bergenhus Fortress was known as Holmen (The islet), and contained the royal residence in Bergen, as well as a cathedral and several churches. The best way to discover the city centre is on foot, as it is pedestrianized. Nightlife was fine. In Oslo, we went on a cruise and pass through idyllic bays on board a traditional wooden sailing ship passing through a maze of green islands. Ford A Norwegian prawn buffet is included in the price The highlight of my trip is watching the sun set on the Fjords. it was so beautiful and very emotional for me. My beloved who passed away was from Bergen living in England and although we have been a few times, my 2005 trip was purely sightseeing. Did a lot but would be boring putting everything down. I recommend it.
