Jugund Paradise  by Stephen    12th May 08
As Aalesund is the home town of my girlfriend, I have spent a lot of time there, both in summer and winter. This beautiful town on the west coast of Norway, has been voted the most beautiful Norwegian town 2 years running, and if you look at the pictures, it is not difficult to see why. The picturesque location, coupled with the unique Jugund style architecture, truly makes Aalesund a unique and interesting location. The town sits in the county of More og Romsdal, undoubtedly one of the most beautiful parts of Norway. Hiring a car to see the sights of this area is highly recommended, as there is so many things to discover off the beaten track, where buses do not go. Unlike Oslo in the south, This is REAL fjord country, and makes for excellent fishing. During the winter, and well into may, this area offers some of the best ski slopes in Norway. There are many small towns along the fjords which offer cabin accommodation for skiers, hikers, mountain bikers and fishermen.
