I lived in Auckland for about 5 months. Auckland is great- great mix of friendly people, clean city, great public transportation. Much safer than what I am used to as well. There is a lot to do in Auckland from hiking, sight seeing, to great night life and restaurants.
I've lived in Auckland for the last 12 years, it is the most beautiful place in the world, I have been to 10% of the world (as per WAYN) and the more cities I see the more I believe that Auckland is the best.
Fresh air, open spaces, bush, beach, sand, night life, restaurants, caffe, fashion, islands, wine, beer, fresh food, you name it, Auckland got it.
Plus friendly, laid back people welcoming visitors & generally very helpful.
this is a mix of buildings one is a refurbished old Department store an has rooms that ether look into a central courtyard or rooms looking outdoors, it has sea views from some rooms, the other part is a new purpose built block and is fairly standard international in its decor and fit out.
It's stylish luxury in the heart of the city , close to the waterfront ,not in everyone budget , but is still affordable by the weekend visitor or a short term stayer. 4 stars
Auckland is the biggest Polynesian nation in the Oceana region, if not the world. Visitors the world over come to see the intense experience of adventure from numerous volcanoes, Lake Taupo, waterfalls, to glaciers, to island beaches and ancient Maori sites. The people themselves can be quite an experience, everyday you can meet someone special. Every stranger is a friend you have not met yet.
