I lived in Okinawa Japan for 5 years and it was a wonderful experience. Okinawa is a tropical island with beautiful beaches and a wonderful night life. During WWII the battle of Okinawa took place against Japanese Soldiers and Sailors against US Marines. It was one of the most fierce conflicts fought against the Japanese. Okinawa is about a 2 hour flight to mainland Japan. Okinawa has very high humidity and a typhoon season. All automobiles are right-hand drive and they typically are slow drivers. Drifting is the sport of choice for the younger crowd. The people are very warm and hospitable. The Oldest living people in the world live in Okinawa. Studies show that their diet of Pork and seafood are reasons for their extended life cycle.They have their own unique language known as Hogan. This was their native language before they were conquered by the Japanese and force to adopt the (Ni-Hongo) Japanese language.
