This is the provincial capital of South Kalimantan. Quite an historic city being the capital for the Banjar Sultanate. The city is cut by the huge and wide Barito River. One of the most interesting things to see here is the morning markets on the Barito River. The sellers, mostly women, quietly move their small boats about over the water looking for buyers, while the buyers are also floating about trying find the right "shop" to buy from. The people are very friendly and quite engaging.
