old is gold  by Alby    17th Jan 09
Cochin or Kochi as it is now called, is a very interesting part of Kerala. In fact, it is perhaps one of the oldest trading sections. A trading port is said to exist since the Roman times, and it was on the main trade route between Europe and China. The Town of Cochin is basically in three parts. Fort Cochin, which is on the seaward side, and perhaps was why the Fort was built to safeguard the city. Willingdon Island, which was a man-made creation of the 1920's by dredging the bay to increase the depth of the entrance to the harbor. The Navy has an established base over here, and also is where the Cochin Railway Terminus and Airport are located. Across the causeway from Wellingdon Island is Ernakulam

God own country for Gods own peop  by Ashok Kumar    24th Dec 08
The title God own country is apt for a beautiful place like Cochin. Surrounded by lush green , plentiful water and good shopping outlets it is a great place. It has all the requirements of a metro in the making. Very beautiful back waters at places nearby like Kumarakkom, Ashtamudhi etc. All in all Gods creation could not have been better.

Cochin, is a city in the Indian state of Kerala. The city is one of the principal seaports of the country and is located in the district of Ernakulam, about 220 kilometres (137 mi) north of the state capital, Thiruvananthapuram. It is the second largest city in Kerala after the capital. It has a large Ship building yard and a deep sea port. The climate is good and people friendly. It is famous for the back waters and Ayurvedic spa or massage centres. Good place to visit

Kochi  by Gerald    1st Oct 08
Kochi, the commercial capital and an upcoming IT hub of Kerala state. Its known for its tourist activities with good beaches in and around the city. i,e Cherai, Fort Kochi. We can find good pilgrimage places too like Tripunithara, Vallarpadam, Chotanikara, Fort Kochi. Climate is another advantage of this city with average humidity. All is well except the nightlife. Its had for party goers to enjoy their presence in the city.

the best of Kochi  by Riyaj    30th Sep 08
its a great place with a great seaside spot. Most notable tourist spot of Cochin is Marine Drive from where you could see all of Cochin.. Another most famous spot is Fort Cochin, one really similar to Pondichery with its traditional looks.. Another famous spot is cherai beach which lies 30km north of kochi. The 15 km of long golden beach is very clean, shallow, and attracts swimming and sunbathing. This is one of the few places where we can see the lagoon (poyil) and ocean separated only by a few hundreds of meters. One of the main events in this beach is the tourism fest during december.
