CITY OF GOLDEN TEMPLE  by Nimesh    8th Apr 09
Had a chance to visit Amritsar while attending a marriage in Jallandhar. Golden Temple was simply beautiful and soulful, while trip to Wagha border (border of India and Pakistan) was full of patriotism. The flag ceremony held every evening was electrifying.

Corner of the country  by Vikrum    10th Oct 08
Amritsar means the pool of nectar and this name was given to the city by the 4th Guru of the Sikhs. Amritsar is in the corner of India which is just on the international border between India and Pakistan called 'Wagah' where a very grand and patriotic flag ceremony is held everyday twice. Amritsar is famous all over the world for its Golden Temple which is the most religious place for sikhs, it is Sanctum Sanctorum is totally gold plated and is surrounded by a pool on all sides and connected through bridge with the outer circle.Near Golden Temple there is a park called Jallianwala Bagh which historically very important,in the pre-Brtish era many innocent people were gunned down here.

Amritsar is well known to world as city of Golden Temple- a holy shrine for not only Sikh religion, but also for all religious people. Wagah border between India & Pakistan is very near to this city. Jalianwala Bagh remembers Mangal Pandey's historical achievements. Durgiana Mandir made in the similar design of Golden Temple. Other Gurdwaras also vising place for travelers. One can have a test of free food in Langarkhana of Golden Temple. People are very cordial.

balle balle amritsar  by Anicomputers    15th Sep 08
Amritsar since known for Golden Temple. I remember I went to some place where people asked me from where you are and I told them I am from Amritsar they immediately said oh you are Sikh, I said I am proud Punjabi and all Punjabis are Sikhs by heart and deeds. besides Golden temple Amritsar have Jallianwala Bagh, Wagah Border, Durgiana mandir, many historical Gurudwaras above all place where Luv - Kush Born- hardly a few talked about that place. if you are in amritsar you cannot resist eating punjabi as well as other food. A few places for mouthwatering dishes are Kesar Da Dhaba, Bharawan da Dhaba and Kundan Da dhaba all pure veg food, one interesting thing I want to add here for these told places that order a thali and if anything out of that you don't want to eat just keep outside the thali without tasting the same you will not they are not allowing me to write down but still lot there to write.

Golden temple  by Rahul    1st Sep 08
Originally the site of Golden Temple was a low-lying are filled with water in the center (called Dukh bhanjani beri) and surrounded by a large number of shady trees in a jungle. The area formed a commercial link between India and Afghanistan, so it was visited by a number of traders. Still nobody talked about the pool before Sikh Gurus visited it.
