Strictly speaking, there isn't a city centre in Bristol—the River Avon and floating harbours carve the centre up into various parts. But rather than being a problem, this has meant each area has developed a distinctly different feel—and what better way to spend your time here than discovering what these are?

aBout Bristol, England  by jHay-Ar    31st May 08
Bristol (pronunciation (helpinfo); pronounced /ˈbrɪstəl/) is a city, unitary authority and ceremonial county in South West England, 105 miles (169 km) west of London, and 44 miles (71 km) east of Cardiff. With an approximate population of 410,950, and urban area of 550,200, it is England's sixth, and the United Kingdom's ninth most populous city, one of England's core cities and the most populous city in South West England. It received a royal charter in 1155 and was granted county status in 1373. For half a millennium it was the second or third largest English city, until the rapid rise of Liverpool, Birmingham and Manchester in the Industrial Revolution in the later part of the 18th century. It borders on the Counties of Somerset, and Gloucestershire, between the cities of Bath, Gloucester and Newport, and has a short coastline on the estuary of the River Severn, which flows into the Bristol Channel.

My City  by Will    8th Aug 08
I was born and bred in the Bristol area, and having seen many cities in the land, I'd have to say Bristol is one of Britain's finest. Many large urban renewal projects are currently underway in the city and pretty soon, Bristol will have more fine shops and offices, and some of Bristol's shops stretch far beyond the domination of the UK's average high-street chain stores. Bristol has fantastic landmarks, fine architecture in many parts, and good museums and attractions, such as @Bristol. Transport in the city, including the rapidly-expanding International Airport is plentiful. Temple Meads Railway Station and Bristol Bus Station both offer road and rail connections to other British cities, including many to London (only 2 hours away). Beyond the city lies the great scenery of the southwest of England. If you international tourists have any time to spend in Britain outside of London, by all means consider a day trip to Bristol.

Bristol is Excellent  by Paul    13th Apr 08
Bristol is a fun place to visit, there is so much to do here with all the attractions and museums. The nightlife is excellent with lots of nightclubs, Bristol is said to be the west country's biggest shopping area.
