There actually is a hostel in Bucaramanga, the first of its kind. It is called Casa Guane (Its name celebrates the Guane native culture of the Santander region). It just opened in August 2008. It is a great place to stay, with an excellent location near bars and restaurants about 2-3 blocks from Parque San Pio on calle 49 #28-21. ( 57. 657.6960) It has dorm and private rooms, hot showers, cooking facilites, Direct TV and internet in a lovely sitting area, hammocks to relax and read a book, laundry and safety boxes. The people who work there are really down to earth and love travel and adventure.
