My town  by Ilomy    20th Oct 08
Great place for the young people - friendly, green and peaceful place, plenty full with young students from two of very big University, placed here. American University in Blagoevgrad, the other one - South West University in Blagoevgrad, the branch of Kliment Ochridsky University in Sofia. The old town Varosha is very interesting place to vizit, with the old houses, working as painter's workshops for icons of Orthodox art gallery, and the place to doing a special dresses, actual for this region - kushulq, and nosiq from the region Macedoniq in Bulgaria. The "Park Bachinovo" is the green lunge to the town, placed on the beach of the river Bistritza, going to the lake Bachinovo, full of citizens, getting their refreshing time, walking near to the river.

A small town on the way to Greece  by Lora    18th Jul 08
Blagoevgrad is a small town but the students of the unique American university in Bulgaria are about 10 000 which is helping for rising the population level. The prices are in general low and is good for people who like quiet places. The town has an Old town which is really beautiful. There are a lot of cheap clothing shops and the quality is a good one. The food in general is awful but if you're with some local you might find a good restaurant or pub. The town is close to Rila monastery - a must to be seen while you're in Bulgaria. Melnik and Sandanski are other small towns which could be interesting for 1 days visit;)
