Graz [graːts] (etymologically possibly from Slovene: Gradec IPA: /gra.deʦ/, "little castle"), with a population of around 290,000 as of 2008 (of which 252,852 have principal residence status), is the second-largest city in Austria after Vienna and the capital of the federal state of Styria (Steiermark [ˈʃtaɪ̯ɐmaʁk] in German).

Excellent compact city  by Mizmiz    24th Dec 07
Graz is definetly worth visiting. The center is very beautiful both in spring and in summer. Take a train from Vienna and enjoy the beauty of the castle hill overlooking the town and do some little hops with train to nearby towns.
