My Home Darwin!  by Hayley    2nd Nov 08
Darwin is the Capital of the Northern Territory and a major hub to a lot of touristic Australia. If you want Crocodiles,Kangaroos, Snakes vast red dirt desserts in tropical surroundings, Darwin is where you want to be. From the city, tours depart daily for the natural attractions located a few hours out of town. You'll be sure to meet new people wherever you go, and everyone is very friendly. If your there during the dry season, the peek tourist season, you may have a little trouble findng accommodation and tours which arent full, but it is deffinatly worth it. During the wet season all is not lost, you will be amazed by tropical storms with lightning that takes over the entrire night sky. Naturally I will give a 5 for this place. I've lived here since I was 5yo. I have been to a lot of other parts of Australia and Darwin is defiantly up there with the best.

Big city or an outback?  by Djinns    15th Sep 08
Even if you are not a city person, you will love Darwin. A place where you do not get funny looks if you start a conversation with a stranger in a pub. Nobody beeps the horn impatiently when you hesitate, approaching an intersection. Even the rush hour traffic seems relaxed. Although you are in a city you are still in the Australian Outback. In Darwin you can enjoy all the benefits of a city: museums, cultural events, shopping malls and fine dining. But you will also see many four wheel drives on the roads, and come across quirky Outback characters. The people are genuine, open and friendly. They also speak their mind and are known to drink a lot of beer. Hey, give us a break. It does get hot in Darwin.
