Historic Maytown can only be reached by 4WD. (Turnoff 17km south of the Palmer River Roadhouse on the way to Cooktown). From turn-off, drive for about 3 hours to a nice river 15km from the town - good camping spot. Visited the cemetery and some of the old gold mining sites. Followed the Old Coach Road to Laura - pretty hair-raising stuff.

Conway Beach is a quiet fishing village in the Whitsunday's near Airlie Beach & Proserpine. We stayed at the Conway Beach Caravan Park which is a very nice park that has had huge improvements since the change in ownership, this park has happy hour in the bar area every afternoon, they also have bbq's, movie nights & Craft Mornings for the ladies. We use it as a base to explore this lovely region, and we also take a boat so we spend heaps of time fishing in the Proserpine River or out in the blue island studded waters of the Whitsundays.

Great place to relax while still being kept entertained with beaches close enough to walk to even for people who don't walk less than a kilometer away easy interesting walk. the resort has a little store and also has a golf course tennis courts multiple pools plus extra activities. With wildlife living outside to watch go about thier day without having to worry to much about them. the staff are great and the place is ideal for people whio need time away with peace and quiet or for people who just want to get away to a beautiful place
