Of course Utrecht is well known for its canal (de Oude Gracht) and the Dom tower, but it also has much more to offer. Throughout the year lots of festivals are organized, such as Smartlappen Festival (Dutch ballads), Cafe Theater Festival (drama in bars), Museumnacht (visit museums by night), De Parade (theater, music, dance), Nederlands Film Festival, Latin American Film Festival, Night Fever (dance classics), Spring Dance, Uitfeest (September, beginning of the new cultural season), Festival de Beschaving (music, theater, comedy, literature), MidZomerGracht Festival, etc. etc. In addition, Utrecht is unique in having its Culturele Zondagen (cultural Sundays). On average once a month the city organizes a Culturele Zondag. These offer a great variety of cultural and recreational events, mostly for free. It's about culture in its broadest sense: theater, music, film, literature, modern art, but also street acts, amateur art, mini operas, musical boat parades and much more.

Utrecht has also canals where you can enjoy the view and next to that the students make the place interesting to visit. The atmosphere is easy and calm, but also challenging if you like a chat. Go for the weekend...Have fun |

Utrecht is the place to be. Many festivals, relaxed people, nickname is the heart of holland and not only because it is in the centre of The Netherlands. A few tips: Tivoli, de Helling, het Wed or de Neude for sitting on the "terrasjes" or maybe you can climb the largest church tower in Holland called "The Domtoren". |

Utrecht-city is the best city in the Netherlands. Great restaurants, a lot of pubs and lots of cultural events! In the summer you can hang-out in one of the great parks. Because of the perfect geographical position you can make lots of trips to other places in the country. I'm loving it!

Calm, historical and very homelike. And to eat the typical Dutch pancakes next the canal, it's a great experience! :) |

De Belevenis-boat (eating tapas on a boat trip through the canals of Utrecht), climbing the Dom tower(the highest point of Utrecht makes for a good sight from above), walking through the centre of the city, Oudegracht, Nieuwegracht and enjoy the beautiful architecture and combine it with bars for instance. Gracht=canal.
