The best is to visit the centre of Amersfoort. We have the Dom of Amersfoort which is in the centre, then we have the renovated marketplace, where the stands could be found on the friday. Because Amersfoort was one of the main city's in the golden age, it has build a fortification around the city heart. Inside the walls you can find very nice and historical old houses which have not been changed for so many decades.
The best time to visit Amersfoort is in the summer, then you can take a tour by boat in the inner city and see historical buildings from the water.
If you like to watch animals, you can visit Amersfoort Zoo, which is quite interesting.
