after reading most of below, i trust no one mention "LAPIS SARAWAK". Lapis Sarawak is one of the most probably local layer cakes that you should try. i brought plenty of those whenever i go back Kch before back to work in Singapore again. Lots of my friends and colleagues just loving it. Why not get one from among the most popular Lapis cake around riverside walk shops.

Personally I think the best is still from Taka Bakery. You can find this bakery all around Kuching city. Just ask a taxi driver to bring you to the nearest. Their kek lapis have very nice texture and is moist not dry, coloured like some of those you get at the walkway opposite the waterfront.

Soho is the hottest nightclub with a live DJ every Friday and Saturday, lots of loud dance music, beautiful women, parties, a blast of fun. It is so hot, that many airline desination mags host soho as as one of the hottest spots in Kuching and you will find us in Lonely Planet as well. So come join the fun here in Kuching and see the sights, visit the crocs and orangutans, and eat great food, and make new friends with the awesome people of Kuching and Sarawak, and lets party!!

Kuching, one of the city in Malaysia has its own special attraction...Though it is a vast and beautiful country side...Just by visiting "KAMPUNG BUDAYA SARAWAK"you can see the different people and cultures, that is being design and built so that the tourist from other countries don't have to travel throughout Sarawak to meet the different races and cultures from Sarawak.

James Anthony from Kuching, Malaysia James
You are right in that perspective, yet nothing beats going to the real place to see how the culture has changed or retained. You may also have realised that people re-enacting the cultures in SARAWAK CULTURAL VILLAGE are employed; so the ones you see representing certain ethnic groups are not from that ethnic group. Yet the choice remains with the individual, if you are pressed for time then the "buffet" of ethnic groups and cultures found at SCV is good enough.

Kuching is a nice place to travel. It has been nominated as one of the cleanest city in the world. Kuching is famous for its ikan terubok masin. In Kuching, there is a shopping place in Serikin, where many Indonesian products are being sold. Many people all around Malaysia who comes to Kuching will plan a trip to Serikin cos in Serikin, we can find many cheap Indonesian products especially for women. For those who couldnt afford to stay in an expensive hotels (4-5 stars hotel) can find many cheap hotels here. The food are very cheap and the people are friendly here..

Kuching is a wonderful place to visit. It's clean, orderly, big enough for excitement, small enough for cosyness. Kuching has a wonderful history (built as an ancient fortress), there are many hotel, but also B&B's. On top: people are very friendly and have or make most of the time, time to speak to you.
