Nitin 's tip about Havana, Cuba  (with reference to Cooking, Food & Wine) 24th Oct 2011

I have an office in Havana and have been going there 6 times a year since 1999 and will be there again 29th of Oct to 8th November. Stay in a private residence, great house and much cheaper than any hotel with a chef & maid.
Places to eat: La Fontana in Miramar, La Guarida in Centro Habana, Good Italian food at Prado y Neptuno, best Pizza is at a Pizzeria in a town 20 mins out of Havana called Guanabacoa.
Cool places to drink: beer at La Cerveceria in Old Havana, Roof top bar of Hotel Ambos Mundo or Saratoga. lobby of Hotel telegrafo.
Go across to the fort El morro..they have great parties overlooking the harbour.
If you need further info please message me, glad to help.

Joanna 's question about Havana, Cuba 5th Feb 2012

una pregunta... que moneda coger? Es mejor coger CUC o $??

Alejandro Somoza from Havana, Cuba Alejandro
Si quieres mas asesoria me dices....

Hi...

If you travel to Cuba then take a trip (2-3 weeks), +- three days Havana is enough , Trinidad is very beautiful, try as much as possible to stay in local family but in Cuba they only speak Spanish!
Cuba is not cheap and the food is monotonous (rice and beans).
The distances are large, public transport is very limited, the roads are in poor condition, self-driving is not recommended, just take an official taxi...
But it's a trip you'll never forget...

Kind regards,

Johan

Mercedes you're right, the people are very friendly and inventive especially given the difficult circumstances in which they live, I mean the boycott of American and others ... I had 15 days trekking in Cuba... see you !

I have heard a lot about Havana. Cool place. I would surely put this one on my travel list soon. Although Emiraty maybe right about development of infrasture, it still has got potential.

Very nice place, nice people but lack of funds and lack of development of the infrastructure holds the nation back.
