Writing to Juliet Broken hearts may write to Juliet. She will read all the letters and try to give comfort to difficult and contested love stories. For years the Club of Juliet carries this out as well. It is an association that gathers together love letters from all over the world and promotes a literary award and other events tied to strong and mysterious feelings.
The amphitheatre is beautiful, although, not on the same scale as Rome, Verona's', has an accessibilty which doesn't overwhelm. Also the back streets are full of Romance & history.Check out the court yard which Romeo & Juliet is said to have originated from, daubed in what at one time was classed as 'love' graffiti, has had recent history with some wanting it removed, some wanting it kept, needless to the wanting it kept won out, lol.
Do not bother going to see Gulietta's grave - it's just an empty place in stone... If you chose to go to Arena de Verona performance, it's better to book tickets on the Internet in advance. And mind what side the sun will be at the beginning of the performance :)
You have to try the local aperitivo 'Spritz'. Order it (or a normal Prosecco) at Osteria Verona, on the corner of Piazza Erbe, and enjoy watching the world go by. For an authentic slice of Verona, head to Sottoriva's many bars.
