Thrissur (or THIRU SHIVA PEROOR name earlier) is situated in centre of Kerala, God's own Country. There are 5 Shiva Temples in the heart of the city. The name is derived from the lord Shiva. The VADAKKUM NATHAN temple is located at the exact center of the city. The famous Thrissur POORAM is a cultural feast to the man.
There are good star hotels available for visitors, which is generally packed with tourists during the Pooram festival season. The city is connected with road & Railways. Nearest Air port is NEDUMBASSERY ABOUT 25-30 K M away. The archetect of the city was the Maharaja of COCHIN known as SAKTHAN THAMPURAN centuries ago.
