this city 2 b called d city of joy has vry many reasons.................d only way to undrstand wat Calcutta is abt is recgnize dat d city is essentially Bengali. What's more, no Bengali minds u sayin dat. Rather, he's proud of d fact. Calcutta's strengths n weaknesses mirror those of d Bengali character. It has d drawbacks: d sudden passions, d cheerful chaos, d utter contempt for mere commerce, d fiery response 2 d smallest provocation. N it has d strengths. Calcutta embodies d Bengali love of culture; d triumph of intellectualism ovr greed; d complete transparency of all emotions, d disdain wid which hypocrisy n insincerity r treated; d warmth of genuine humanity; n d supremacy of emotion ovr all othr aspects of human existence.
Certainly, u cn't do it till u come n live here, till u let Calcutta suffuse ur being, invade ur bloodstream and steal ur soul. But once u hv, u'll love Calcutta forever. Wherever you go, a bit of Calcutta will go with you.

Have you ever been to Kolkata

Tapas Sarkar from Kolkata, India Tapas
Kolkata is a very happening place, its also known as the "City of joy". A few places would be great to visit.
1. Victoria Palace
2. Science city
3. Nicco park- Amusement park.
4. Esplanade-shopping place
5. Park street- Food, disco, enjoyment

these are the places you can visit for high voltage entertainment. If you really want to taste typical indian food, try out some street food. Transport and foods are really very cheap and tasty. Hotels like Grand oberoi, Taj bengal, ITC kolkata would be great place to stay. all of them are near to airport.

hope these info will help u to stay and enjoy kolkata.
enjoy urself
