Best things to see in York are the Minster, National Railway Museum, Jorvik Viking Centre and the City Walls. Plus check out the ghost tours which are great fun.
take a look at www.holidayinyork.com
Its also a great place to live - not too big, but its got everything you need; and Leeds & Manchester are not far away. I would definitely recommend a trip to York!

The city walls surrounding York, are the key aspect of the city. They surround most parts of the city, with the exception of certain areas (such as Bootham) which were demolished at points. The walls have various access points called 'Bars' - Micklegate Bar, Victoria Bar, Walmgate Bar, Bootham Bar, Monk Bar (Think thats all of them!). In Monk Bar, you have got a museum, dedicated to Charles the 3rd, who was held in prison in there. From pretty much all points of the walls as you walk round, there are spectacular views of the city - The Minster, The Yorkshire Wheel, and Cliffords Tower.

White Water Gate was one of very shame scandal for Mr.Clinton and me.Its scandal result was a white little home outside New York City.No any luxury on its home but why was a value of its home very high in open auction?Cause a historical of its home,I predicted over US $ 1 million.I thought its value was reasonable s.What did you interest?

Best Fine Dining can be found at J Bakers, Cafe No8 Bistro and Eight O’Clock. Best Indian is Mumbai Lounge, Best Chinese is Red Chili and there are several very good Thai Restaurants. For Wine Bars try Kennedys, Plonkers or 1331. Real Ale enthusiasts should try The York Tap, The Maltings, The Swan, Brigantes, The Three Legged Mare, The Rook & Gaskill or The Bluebell.

Shop north of the river but avoid the chain stores on Coney St, it’s better to explore the narrower streets with many lovely independent stores and charming old buildings. There are many curiosity shops to discover. Shop on Stonegate, Shambles, Petergate, Gillygate and Goodramgate. Also visit The Designer Outlet Shopping Mall on the edge of town where you will find an outdoor ice rink at Christmas. Parliament St also has a Xmas market.

I have lived in York for 7 years and will never live anywhere else in the UK. If you are visiting York the best attractions are The Minster Cathedral, The Castle Museum and The National Railway Museum. Nearby, you should also make a visit to Castle Howard Stately Home. Visit York Races in season if you are lucky enough to visit on a race day. The Jorvik Viking Centre & the York Dungeons are popular but not much value for money. A boat trip down the river is also pleasant on a sunny day.

Seven million tourists visit York every year so it must have something to offer. King George Fifth said "The history of York is the history of England" -- how right he was!
