Tianjin is the little brother of Beijing. Limited amount of direct flight to Tianjin because it is about 35 minutes and 55 RMB (US$9) away from Beijing by City Express Train. Although it is less than 100 miles southeast of Beijing, Tianjin dialect is unique to be the least.
Tianjin is a very industrial city, with 2 - 3 top universities. Not much to see but the local food is well-known. The Bao Zi (狗不理包子, steamed meat bum) and Ma Hua (18节麻花, twisted Fried Dough) are the must try. If you have time and the weather is good, go to Tanggu (塘沽), the sea port and the scenery should be much better.

Tianjin is the biggest 'village' in China. People are pretty much set in their ways and stuck on tradition. This also makes it the most amazing place to get to know some true Chinese people - if you understand what I mean? Not trying to be something they are not. But as far as shopping and nightlife goes, there is more than enough to entertain. We lived there for 6 years, My daughter was born there. International schools to watch out for: Hopeland Kindergarten. Best Kindergarten Aozi - but they have a very long waiting list!

Tianjin is a famous historical city. The best known scenic spots and historical sites include Ning Garden, Tianhou Temple (Temple of Heavenly Empress), Dule Temple in Ji county, The Great Wall at the Huangya Pass, the Panshan scenery area etc.

I have been in tıanjın twice because of my job. its near the beiijing approx. 2 hours and it is very difficult to me because of culture differencies and ı could not communucate with people because the peoples did not know english and ı also did not know chinese so it is very hard. But although all of these negative clause it is very fantastic experience for me and ı want to go again there.

there are lots of options for you. but I would like to know how many days you are going to spend in Tianjin.

It's a pretty laid-back city with laid-back people. The sights along the river is good, and I would recommend a cruise trip to take a look at the riversides as well as the bridges. The new port area is fabulous if you can really get inside the port to see the mega cargo ships ,containers and cranes. The city's history and culture is not immediately presented, you need to feel rather than watch and see.
