Sydney was amazing. Spent a month there exploring the city, from Darling Harbour with it's shopping and Chinese Gardens and the Aquarium to the Bondi Markets and beach to Coogee Beach and all around the bay. Gordon's Bay was an amazing place to go snorkeling. St. Mary's Cathedral was spectacular with all the architecture and the crypt down below. Found a little museum just down the road from St. Mary's, dedicated to a small piece of local history. The shopping was fantastic. Randwick was an awesome place to stay, with parks, and the racecourse near by, and best of all, it had the most amazing pizza place. Woy-Woy, about a 3 hour drive out of Sydney central had some amazing beaches, and a fantastic 4 story mall. Also the Blue Mountains were spectacular, even from a distance. A month in Sydney was not enough to explore it all.

I loved everything about Sydney - the people - the beaches - it was all awesome . We stayed on Bondi beach at Noahs Hostel - the city is only a bus ride away I can't recommend it enough - did not want to come home!

Sydney - if you like smog, pollution and traffic nightmare it may be city for you. There is not much of historical value to see, do not forget it is very young city in the Australia, the British Colony. First impression you ask - what part of Hong Kong it is? Most of the shops, specially in the suburbs are own or operated by chinese selling mainly low quality, cheap products and service quality is bad, even in the restaurants. If you look like a senior you may may be refused entry to pubs and night clubs in the evenings. There are quite common cases of abuse by the bouncers, bashing and even murder by bouncers specially in King Cross area.

Way too late but the very best bands in Sydney are by far Drive (at the bridge hotel, rozelle every sunday) - Peter northcote is an incredible session musician playing on many famous Australian band recordings! Also Petulant Frenzy (next gig on 3rd Nov, Sandringham hotel, Newtown ( November 3rd) - The only Sydney Frank Zappa cover band...amazing musicians...

Take a ferry ride down Parramatta River, in fact all ferry rides in Sydney are very reasonable priced and give you a great view of the harbor and the surrounding areas. Sydney Toronga Park Zoo is also worth the trip...you'll be envious of where the Giraffes live! All beach suburbs from Pam Beach to Cronulla are worth visiting. Chinatown and Hay Market are worth a visit, and if you get to watch any big sporting event in Sydney, you will experience the real Aussie at play. Blue Mountains is a must see, Jenolan Caves 1 hour West of Katoomba, good restaurants are everywhere in Sydney, Sydney Fish Market should also be on your to do list, Sydney seafood is brilliant!
